The Coastal Academy
The Coastal Academy offers students from around the world the chance to complete short courses in marine and coastal resource management in a unique setting at the University of Antsiranana in northern Madagascar. The Coastal Academy offers field and classroom-based courses from 2-4 weeks in Tropical Marine and Coastal Ecosystem Monitoring Methods and Management. Students have the opportunity to receive training and certification in internationally-recognized monitoring methods, including Reef Check and SeagrassWatch. University of Montana Field Study Program
Northwest Connections is now accepting applications for their Summer 2012 and Fall 2012 field programs. Wildlife in the West, May 16 to June 16, offers 9 credits in Environmental Studies and Forestry. The Landscape and Livelihood Field Semester, Fall 2012, offers 15 upper-division University of Montana credits in Environmental Studies, Forestry, and Geography. Semester in Environmental Science (SES)
Spend a semester in Woods Hole, MA, a world renowned center for oceanography, marine biology and environmental science, studying global change and biogeochemistry. The SES is sponsored by the Ecosystems Center at the Marine Biological Lab and taught by a distinguished faculty. Students in the program spend 20 hours each week in the field and lab measuring ecosystem structure and processes in coastal ponds, estuaries, forests and marshes and conduct independent research during the last six weeks of the 15 week program. The Field Museum - RESTORE Project
RESTORE, which stands for Rethinking Ecological and Social Theories of Restoration Ecology is in interdisciplinary study of how people make restoration descisions in the Chicago Wilderness region. The Fund for the Public Interest
Has a summer job opportunity working and lobbying all over the country to help win environmental and social justice campaigns. As a staff member, you will fundraise, build membership for our partner groups, educating and activating citizens on pressing issues. You will also have the opportunity to organize press conferences and organize coalitions with other non-profit organizations. While on staff, you gain knowledge of pressing concerns our country is facing, learn how to effectively generate public support, and obtain a firm understanding of the political process. OurEarth.org 2012 Environmental Leadership Program
This is a rare opportunity for students to develop as a leader and learn many of the skills that are necessary to create significant environmental changes in the future. In addition to leadership training, students will also create and develop an environmental project, be in a team with students from other colleges, and help OurEarth.org promote the new features that will be deployed on its website in June. All work is done remotely so you can work from your home, campus, or anywhere else, yet you will still have very frequent contact with the OurEarth.org management and other interns via conference calls, email, webinars, and other electronic mediums.
OurEarth.org is a national 501(c)3 non-profit organization and grassroots initiative that aims to aid and develop environmental leaders, in part, by transforming the way environmental programs, activities, and information are found on the internet. DOSECC Research Grant Program: DOSECC invites students and teachers to apply for summer grants in scientific drilling. The grants promote involvement in projects where drilling has provided data and materials for study, and are available to college students (graduate or undergraduate) and primary and secondary schoolteachers, worldwide.
